Summer Youth Initiative (SYI)

The Regional Chamber is the program manager of the Summer Youth Initiative (SYI). SYI provides funding to area nonprofits through a competitive proposal process to hire Genesee County teens, ages 14-18,
to work in their respective summer programs. Each year over 450 students are employed for eight-ten weeks. The types of jobs provided through SYI range from summer day camp counselors working with young children, beautification and gardening assistants, library assistants, neighborhood
club activity organizers, and general office duties.
