SYI RECEIVES GRANT FROM THE
ARTHUR G. BISHOP CHARITABLE TRUST

(Flint, Michigan, August 1, 2008) The Arthur G. Bishop Charitable Trust has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Genesee Chamber Foundation for the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce 2008 Summer Youth Initiative (SYI).

The Arthur G. Bishop Charitable Trust was established in 1944 following the death of Arthur Bishop, a Flint native. He was the chairman of Genesee County Savings Bank and a member of the General Motors board of directors. The trust is administered by JPMorgan Chase Bank and provides financial support for religious, charitable, scientific, literary and educational causes, namely public charities in Flint and Genesee County.

Funding from the Arthur G. Bishop Charitable Trust will help the SYI programs to continue to educate and train area teens for paid seasonal employment and leadership positions within Genesee County nonprofit and for-profit businesses. SYI focuses on Genesee County youths who have completed or participate in the TeenQuest pre-employability training. Teens 14-18 years of age who are currently enrolled in grades 9-12 in a school within Genesee County or in a home school are eligible.
