Program Details

If you are 14-18 years old and in 9th-12th grade you can learn important skills to help you get and keep a job. Employers look for applicants who know what it takes to be great workers. Do you know that employers are looking for people with skills like these:

  • Work well with others
  • Flexible on the job
  • Takes the initiative
  • On time is 10-15 minutes earlier than your job begins

The Regional Chamber sponsors a FREE after-school program that teaches pre-employment and leadership skills to Genesee County teens who are 14-18 and in the 9th-12th grades. The program runs for two hours each day, Monday-Thursday, over a five-week period. Four sites, geographically placed across the county, run simultaneously with 75-100 teens being trained at each location. The training covers 12 core employment competencies that every employer looks for in an employee.

Teens that successfully complete the TeenQuest program are also eligible
to participate in the Summer Youth Initiative Job Fair to be held in early
May 2009. Other employment or intern opportunities may be available through other area employers throughout the school year to teens who complete the program.

TeenQuest training will be offered during four different timeframes to allow students who have other commitments to participate when it is convenient to do so. A student may attend the TeenQuest training at any site and is not limited to their home high school.
