• The Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium have been accredited by the American Association of Museums. The prestigious award is the culmination of a two-year process which included examination of public programming and care of collections. “I’m extremely proud of the staffs of the museum, planetarium and the Flint Cultural Center Corporation, along with the volunteers and board members...,” said Tim Shickles, director of Sloan Longway in a press release. The accreditation is the third received by the Sloan museum. However, it’s the first time it’s included Longway. Sloan and Longway merged to become Sloan Longway in 2004.
