Public Policy Goals
Increase funding to Genesee County by improving the community infrastructure:
- Identify and prioritize community issues to be addressed
- Seek and obtain new funding to support community initiatives and address community needs
Increase visibility on public policy matters so the Regional Chamber is the recognized voice of business advocacy
- Understand and become more pro-active on critical issues facing Genesee County businesses
- Stay on top of proposed legislation that will positively or negatively impact the area
- Take positions on issues deemed “high impact” for business
- Be prepared to issue position statements when warranted
Influence efficiency and effectiveness of local government through workforce development and training:
- Ensure collaboration on major projects, like downtown Flint revitalization project
- Encourage and develop business-friendly environments in municipalities
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness
- Work with Lt. Governor John Cherry, the Genesee County Legislative Delegation, Educational Community and Regional Chamber’s Economic Development staff to accomplish goals and objectives
